HEMINGWAYS WATAMU UPDATE

Date published: 8/06/2017

The redevelopment of one of Kenya’s most iconic properties continues apace.

We’re now almost one year into our 18 month redevelopment project and the signs are that Hemingways Watamu will be even better than we promised. In the last few months we have finished our new show apartment (forming part of Hemingways Residences) and we have also finished one of our new Deluxe hotel rooms. Thankfully we’ve also found time for a quick photo shoot to show you what we’ve done.

Deluxe Room

Located on the top floor of our North Wing, our Deluxe Rooms offer a whole new flavour of
luxury. A bedroom view with nothing but sand, ocean and horizon, Marble tiled en-suite bathrooms and private balconies with jaw dropping views of the bay provide the utmost comfort and privacy. Add to that a flat screen TV and the magical Watamu breeze and you
may not want to leave your room.

In keeping with our service standards at Hemingways Nairobi, we’re adding a personalised butler service to our Deluxe Rooms to ensure our guests are fabulously looked after. Training for the butlers as well as the rest of the staff begins in mid September so we’ll be well prepared to welcome our guests back.

Hemingways Residences

These ultra luxe apartments are located in the South Wing of the hotel and offer 1, 2 and 4 bedroom configurations. The Residences have been designed and finished to the highest degree of modern coastal luxury and feature majestic open terraces with magical views of the beach and Marine Park, comfortable lounge and dining areas flooded with natural light, en-suite bathrooms and fully equipped contemporary kitchens. Guests of the Residences enjoy full access to all hotel facilities with the added benefit of being completely self sufficient if that’s what you’re looking for.

In our two bedroom apartments, both bedrooms have wonderful ocean views and direct access to the beautiful terrace. With both interior and exterior lounging and dining space and a fully equipped modern kitchen, the 2 bedroom apartments have ample room for socialising or retreating to a quiet spot. Ceiling fans, air conditioning and the magical Watamu breeze will all help to keep guests cool.

Elsewhere on site, we are in the process of completing the new restaurant and bar roof structures. The new designs will offer much more natural light along with some creative furnishings. We’ve also finalised the lay out for the terrace in front of the bar and restaurant including the Night Sky water feature, a sunken dining/dancing area and the all new ‘Rock Bar’. Our new botanical pool next to the Wellness Centre has been tiled and landscaping is about to commence.

Currently, we are on target to open the 39 hotel rooms for repeat guests by October 2017, however some construction will still be ongoing in the rest of the site. We will keep you updated.

We do very much look forward to welcoming you all back to us once we do reopen and please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like more information or just to say ‘Hello’!
